It would be nice to have illustrated the differnet types of transport devices by an individuell symbol for example for bus, train, subway etc.

Will look if the designations for lines are generally the same. The only information I get is the line name, like "NFB21" for "Niederflurbus" (low-flor bus). Maybe I can add some pattern matching where users can provide patterns which resolve to symbols using generic types like bus, train and tram.

Turns out that often line information has no hint at all what kind of transport devices is used. So the only way will be some kind of lookup list or pattern matching.

Okay, then it is not as easy, as I expected. Thought the server deliever this info back.

Sorry, This topic bother me. Therefore I take a look in Öffi. There are buses and trams shown with different colors. I don't know how Andreas did this, but I can't believe, that he search for matching pattern. What do you think BenGig?

Maybe it's because of the way I get the data: Andreas has published a Java library which offers an Java API to access all supported providers. To actually have access to the data, you have to use the library in a program (and take care of all the access key some providers oblige you to use).

A user of the home automation software FHEM (Stefan Biermann) took the library and wrote a server software which offers a REST API which is easy to use from Javascript. He uses a hosting provider to run a server with his software, with one consumer being a module used in FHEM. He kindly allowed me to use his service in this module. But as is looks, the REST API does not forward any device information.

Okay, then you loose the needed information in between. That's bad, but as long as you use this environment, you have only a chance if Stefan enlarge the REST API. Do you see a way, that he will do this?

Don't know, I'm not in contact with him except the permission I mentioned. To be honest it's not the kind of task I'm very comfortable with. But if someone asks and the feature magically appears... 😉
