Black visualiser screen

Both Linux version 1.1.7 and Applimage 1.1.9 result in black visualiser screens. Settings-colours show white visualiser background screen. Setting system to default and closing then reopening and still visualiser screen is black, even though settings- colours show background as white.
I looked at earlier posts snd thought the problem hsd been fixed but obviously not.
Please fix this issue or offer a solution.
