HOW TO BUILD THE VLC SKIN EDITOR
====================================================================
Requirements:
Sun Java Development Kit 6 SE or newer
Apache Ant
Inno Setup (optional)
====================================================================
1. How to setup the JDK and Ant
====================================================================
1.1 On Linux/Unix
--------------------------------------------------------------------
On Linux/Unix you can just get and install the both with
your favourite package manager. (e.g. apt-get)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1.2 On Windows
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Download and install the latest JDK from
http://java.sun.com
Then follow the instructions about "Installing Ant" at
http://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html
If you want to create the setup for the Skin Editor also, you need
to download and install InnoSetup
http://www.innosetup.com/isdl.php
====================================================================
2. How to build the VLC Skin Editor
====================================================================
If you just want to compile the sources, simply run ant inside the
directory where build.xml is located. (The root of the trunk)
If you want to build packaged versions, use ant with one of the
following targets as argument:
package-win32
ZIP package for Windows
package-unix
TAR-GZIP package for Linux/Unix
package-update
ZIP update package for the update system
installer-win32
Installer for Windows (requires Inno Setup and Windows)
package-all
All of the above
====================================================================
3. How to run the VLC Skin Editor
====================================================================
You have to run VLCSkinEditor.jar (via java or VLCSkinEditor.exe)
inside the same directory as the lang directory is. On Windows you
also have to make sure that ICE_JNIRegistry.dll is in the same
directory, otherwise detection of where VLC is installed does not
work.
When ran for the first time the program will create a config file
named "VLCSkinEditor.cfg". It is located in the user directory.
On Windows its stored in "%appdata%\VLC" on Linux in "~/.vlc/".
