Checklist

  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I'm aware that this is a request for NewPipe itself and that requests for adding a new service need to be made at NewPipeExtractor.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the feature request will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one feature request.
  • I have read and understood the contribution guidelines.

Feature description

Some Youtube Channels announce Videos that are planned to be published on a certain date in the future. Such Videos are properly displayed in NewPipe, including a timestamp (e.g. "2 weeks from now"). When trying to open such Videos, an error message ("Content Unavailable") is displayed (obviously, the content cannot yet be displayed prior to its publishing).

However, if consuming Channels that have a lot of such Videos, it is rather cumbersome to find actually published Videos, because published and unpublished Videos seem to be somewhat "mixed" w.r.t. their order.

Note
There is a filtering option in "What's New" tab. However, no such option is offered in "Single Channel View" (accessible from "Subscriptions" tab)

It would be very convenient if there were an option to simply filter unpublished videos (only display published ones). As an alternative, maybe such videos-entries could at least be displayed differently (maybe greyed out) so they are easier to spot.

Why do you want this feature?

Because this feature would make consuming some of my favourite YouTube Channels (high frequency of new videos, many unpublished videos in their "pipeline") so much more convenient :-)

Use Hide Future Items to hide upcoming streams.

Note that current behavior shows a weird toast. #9747 is on the way to solve that bug.

@SameenAhnaf : actually, I did not overlook it. the option is available for the "feed"-view. However, it is not present for view displaying a single channel

-> will you re-open the ticket?

It will be added when sorting and filtering comes to Newpipe. That's still underway.

@opusforlife2 That PR neither hides upcoming streams nor anything on channel page. That PR is solely about search filters. Title could be Hide Upcoming Streams on Channel Page

the option is available for the "feed"-view. However, it is not present for view displaying a single channel

I updated the issue's text to explicitly mention where I would like to also have the filtering option

Ah, yes, this is more about what Jared was proposing to work on. I'm surprised that this isn't a duplicate.

@ccwienk @georgettica There are too many comments irrelevant to the core theme og this issue. I am willing to continue discussion for both of your requests on #8473
