The bot silently ignores encrypted messages. This works fine with Element, but seems to be a blocker for Element X. Possibly they've made it impossible to have unencrypted DM chats?

The current workaround is to have the bot join an unencrypted public room.

This is issue tracks the effort to implement proper E2EE support.

Tested it on an existing chat on Element X and it works 🤷

Perhaps it wouldn't work on a new chat on Element X though.
