Steps to reproduce

  1. Have android with play services or microG (I use microG)
  2. Install gCompat UP-Distributor and open it
  3. Install Element X (f-droid flavor) either from the release or from f-droid (it has no play services)
  4. Login, go to Settings -> Notifications -> Troubleshoot notifications

Outcome

What did you expect?

For it to pass

What happened instead?

It failed on the "Test push gateway" and "Test Push loop back". Errors transcribed by me:

Fail to check the gateway https://fcm.distributor.unifiedpush.org/_matrix/push/v1/notify: Expected start of the object '{', but had EOF instead at path: $
JSON input:
Error: Expected start of the object '{', but had EOF instead at path: $
JSON input: .

On Element "classic" (non-x), all tests pass. I also tested and the classic app does receive notifications, while Element X does not.
