Thank you for accepting our newest project, 42dot Sans. It has been really exciting to see so many people start to use the font on their websites and designs!
We are writing to inform you that we are planning to change the name of the font from 42dot Sans to Asta Sans and want to request that the font name also be changed on Google Fonts. This is for a couple of reasons.
As you may know, 42dot is a subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group which encompasses some 70 companies, many of which do not presently have their own branding. Given the popularity of the design internally, there is desire from Hyundai’s leadership to enable these companies to make use of our font. To that end, we want to change the name to a more general name, rather than company-specific one. Additionally, we feel that general users might also prefer if the font doesn’t explicitly reference a company name.
We chose the name “Asta”, a simplified version of “Asterisk”, as it references our company logo.
Please let us know how best to proceed with this. Thank you.
