Noticed that kemono party starts making duplicates of images I already had. Is that a website thing or something else?

Could it be this change in the last release?

[kemonoparty] limit default filename length (#2373)

Shorter filenames so it doesnt find the previously downloaded ones if you rely on filenames.
If it's caused by this, then you could try setting the filename pattern to the old format without the 180 char limit:
