I have a training program file setup by date following the same convention as Daily Notes [ YYYY-MM-DD] in a completely different folder than where I store my daily notes.

The desired ( expected) behavior is that plugin lookup location of the daily notes from Periodic Notes / Daily Note Plugin and only update the file.

Nice catch, surprised no one has reported this before. I'll fix this the next time I open up the code. (No promises on a timeline for that at the moment, sorry.)
