According to this, since about 2009 Boost hasn't had separate files for -mt (multithread). Compiling on a modern installation, in common.mk
common.mk
BOOST_IOSTREAMS_LIB ?= -lboost_iostreams-mt
should probably be replaced with
BOOST_IOSTREAMS_LIB ?= -lboost_iostreams
