Customizing the app
Everyone uses OctoApp in a different way, so the app is very adjustable. There are many ways you can customize OctoApp to make it fit your needs:
The layout of OctoApp's "control pages" connect, prepare and print is fully customizable. By default all controls relevant for the current task are shown, but you can rearrange them and also hide controls you do not need. Some controls might only be shown if they are compatible with your printer, e.g. the bed mesh control is only shown if your printer supports bed meshes.
To customize the controls go to main menu > Settings > UI > Customize Controls. OctoApp will switch to an "edit" mode allowing you to rearrange the controls. Using the "eye" button you can show and hide controls.
Note
The customizations of the control elements are only applied to one control page at a time, e.g. if you hide the webcam in "prepare" it's still shown in "connect" and "print". Same goes for reordering controls.
OctoApp features a vast menu structure allowing you access to all functionality of the app. Most people will not need many of the menu items, but OctoApp allows you to pin the ones you do need. You can either pin menu items to the main menu or to the "Quick Access" controls on OctoApp's main controls screen. On Android you can also pin some menu items to the home screen widget.
To pin a menu item simply hold it pressed for 1 second. A menu will appear letting you select where to pin to menu item to. You can also keep menu items in the main menu or "Quick Access" controls pressed for 1 second to reveal the same menu.
Especially when using multiple printers with OctoApp it's important to customize how each printer looks. You can change the printer's name and color scheme to easily distinguish between them. OctoApp will pick up the name and color scheme from OctoPrint, Mainsail and Fluidd. This means when you connect your printer to OctoApp and you already set these values they will immediately show up in OctoApp. To change the name and color scheme...
- ...in OctoPrint go to settings > OctoPrint > Appearance. Change "Title" and "Color" to the desired values
- ...in Mainsail go to
- settings > UI setting. Change "Logo" to change the color of OctoApp
- settings > General. Change "Printer Name" to the name OctoApp should use
- ...in Fluidd go to
- settings > Theme. Change "Primary Color" to change the color of OctoApp
- settings > General. Change "Printer Name" to the name OctoApp should use
Note
You can show the currently active printer in the status bar using main menu > Settings > UI > Show active printer in status bar.
