Configuration
Note
Since v1.4.0, this page has been moved to docs/configuration.md and will not be updated anymore.
This page contains additional information about some configuration options.
Since Plasma 6, blur opacity is now affected by the window's opacity. At around 80% opacity, text behind the blurred window starts becoming visible.
Disabled:
Enabled:
Fake blur works by drawing an already blurred image behind the window, resulting in lower GPU usage, as KWin doesn't have to blur anything and it also doesn't have to paint everything behind the window.
Supported image formats: BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG.
Current restrictions:
- When using multiple screens, they must have the same resolution and wallpaper
- Settings from the Blur category are ignored, thus the image must be blurred manually in an image editor
- No option to enable fake blur only for some windows
It's recommended to disable the Background Contrast effect, as it may significantly alter the colors of the image.
Whether to blur window decorations, including borders. This option should be enabled only if your window decoration doesn't support blur.
Currently broken on Wayland (#29).
The Breeze application style doesn't mark the window as transparent when using a transparent color scheme, which results in KWin not painting anything behind the windows, resulting in a black background or artifacts.
This option marks force blurred windows as translucent.
This only rounds the blur region, not the window. You'll also need an effect that rounds the window, such as KDE-Rounded-Corners or LightlyShaders.
The corners will probably not perfectly match the window if you look closely. You can enable an outline to hide that.
Anti-aliasing may currently be a bit buggy.
