Descrição: Specifying the language of content is useful for a wide number of applications, from linguistically-sensitive searching to applying language-specific display properties. In some cases the potential applications for language information are still waiting for implementations to catch up, whereas in others it is a necessity today. Adding markup for language information to content is something that can and should be done as content is first developed. If not, it will be much more difficult to take advantage of any future developments.

Ok pessoal que for traduzir isto, o link ali é uma versão provavelmente reduzida da recomendação técnica oficial https://www.w3.org/TR/i18n-html-tech-lang/. Dependendo do caso, em vez de traduzirmos o "FAQ", fazemos direto a recomendação técnica.

Como seria uma TR, já valeria a pena enviar o link de volta para a W3C internacional para que eles disponibilizem nosso link como referência para busca.

Eu me disponho a revisar esse artigo, porém acho que seria bem interessante que o @tassoevan e o @Dkmister dividissem a tradução desse documento. Das TRs que poderíamos fazer, essa é uma das menores.
